MOSCOW, Jul 8 (PRIME) -- The Federal Service for Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare Oversight has joined a court case against furniture retailer IKEA, the authority said in a statement on its Telegram channel Friday.

"The service has joined the trial because it has the authority to certify cases of consumer rights violation. The Federal Service for Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare Oversight plans to use all available tools to protect the rights and legal interests of Russian citizens," the watchdog said.

The authority added that the Russian legal entities working on behalf of foreign brands are liable to their clients as producers, importers and sellers.
